Amazed!!

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. 2 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb 3 and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”
4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. 5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’”

Mark 16:1-7 (NIV)

I'm not a morning person, so getting up before sunrise would not be my favorite thing to do, especially if I was mourning the loss of my Savior, Jesus. I'm sure, in those early hours the atmosphere was solemn and quiet on the way to the tomb. I can only imagine the surprise the women felt when they arrived at the empty tomb, the amazement when they saw and heard the angel speak, and the excitement to know they were soon going the see Jesus again!! Oh, it makes my heart want to jump for joy, too!!! What a different atmosphere there had to be, as they ran back to town to tell everyone the good news!!

I don't know about you, but this video says it all for me... I'm so amazed at the love of Jesus!

  1. I've always wanted to get up early and watch the sunrise on Easter morning. Perhaps next year!

    1. That's okay, Barbie. I missed it too! I thought about it the morning before Easter, but didn't set my alarm early enough to see the sun rise. Hope you had a wonderful day, though!!

  2. Couldn't make it w/o Him. His Grace is Amazing, indeed.

[and I'm not a "morning" person, either... one of life's challenges.]
