Last week, I mentioned that I wanted to try something different for my hubby and my 25th wedding anniversary. . So I got some ideas from the internet that I posted for a special "tea for two" romantic tea party. Now I think most men would usually balk at the thought of an anniversary/romantic tea. In all honesty, I wasn't sure how mine would respond. First of all, he's more of a coffee drinker (even though he has poured a cup or two of herbal tea for a sore throat or digestive issues.) Secondly, even though he has occasionally surprised me with some flowers, dinner, or a card. . . he's not super-gifted in the romance department (though I know he's better than most men, from what I hear).
So, I quickly gathered items from around my house together and set up a little “tea table area” by the fireplace. I didn’t have a lot of time to cook something sweet, so I decided to make some “white chocolate” pudding, in a graham cracker crust, a little peanut butter/mixed with powdered sugar till crumbly that was sprinkled on the crust, and finally a cherry on top. I put these in little disposable decorative cups. I found some tea that sounded really romantic, Lipton’s “Harvest Strawberry and Passion Fruit” tea. I also bought a few little Valentine decorations to make some finishing touches. And here the results –
I just used some sticky letters I had from my scrapbooking stuff and my white teapot became romantic.
Ken and I have traditionally bought each other little stuffed animals on past anniversaries/Valentines Days. He's my monkey man. . .
And I get a little 'froggy' for him!

Used heart mugs to drink our tea from and watched the fire. . .notice the glare off the glass, reflecting one of our heads in the window behind us.
Romance was achieved!!
I hadn’t mentioned my plans to Ken, so when he came home from work that day, he was very surprised. I even played some romantic music and had him close his eyes and walked him into the room. We had some tea and dessert (yes, before dinner). We talked and held hands. Before we knew it, we were both feeling VERY romantic (and more, but we won’t go there.) Needless to say, I think my “romantic tea for two” was a success. Now, I can’t guarantee that your “man” will respond the same way. But, I do know one thing. I’m doing this again!!!
