My Word/Verse for 2012

I've read a few blogs where the bloggers decided to have a special "word" or verse that they feel describes their calling or what God prompts them to focus on for the coming year. I decided to do the same.

I've chosen my word for 2012:
Transformed

My verse for 2012:
Romans 12:2   (NIV)
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I also am listing my desires for this year:
  • To live a healthy lifestyle:  physically, in my relationships, and in my walk with God every day.
  •  To realize my gifts and use them to God’s glory alone.
  • To know my limitations and learn when God is leading and when He’s not, and take action accordingly.
  • To make a difference in the lives of others by sharing my life experiences and words of encouragement.(specifically through my blog)
  • To be a true disciple of Jesus Christ, walking the hard road and taking up my cross daily to do so.

My prayer for 2012 :

Precious Lord, help me to be transformed and renewed...
as I seek a deeper and soul searching relationship with You,
in order to bring glory to God.  I pray to see all things new...
and allow God to continue the process of  transformation
He has begun in me. Help me to discern Your will and not mine.
Guide me to find contentment, peace and renewal....
focusing on what GOD wants me to do...
within my own home, my own community, and the world.
 In Your Glorious Name, Amen.

  1. We at our house want our spirits souls and bodies all transformed. Yes, we are putting into practice some new eating plans. The spirit is doing well, but our soul (attitudes and emotions) can handle some transformation! Good post!

  2. Transformation isn't easy, that's for sure! Look at what the catipillar has to go through to become a butterfly. He struggles and wiggles in his cocoon as he slowly changes. I'm sure there are days he wants to be free, but change takes time and effort! Praying for you to each find strength and encouragement and not let negative attitudes and emotions control your commitment!

  3. Romans 12:1 is one of my favorite verses. I the idea that you also listed goals. The third one really touched close to home for me.

    Blessings,

  4. Hi Ann,
I love the desires you listed for your year of being transformed! Mind if I tag along and borrow them?

I have a rock star son too--does that make us rock star moms? I think so!! Very nice to meet you!

    In His Grip,
    Shaunie

  6. @Joan-I've read this verse many time throughout my life, but it really stuck out for me recently. I've been really pulled to work on listening to God's leading, instead of my own desires, and wanted to transform my relationship with Him!
@Shaunie-You most definitely can borrow my statement and verse! It's really cool that we both have musician sons, too! Does he ever play on stage?
@Theresa-I really like the idea, too! Don't know where it originated, but I see a lot of bloggers following suite.
