The Battle that Rages: Attitude and Trust
As a whole, I usually have felt like I have overcome negativity, but learning to trust and having a positive attitude often seem to collide with each other for me when I'm faced with them together, especially when things aren't going well in my life. It's amazing how praise and gratitude can be so easily influenced by my circumstances (or even by my mood).
I've tried to write down at least one thing every day that I'm grateful for. I've been doing this for almost a full year now, and still, there are days it's a great struggle. In fact, today is one of them. I've been racking my brain to write something down, but my mind keeps traveling to negative and worrisome thoughts. I pray for God to take care of my every need and to give me peace about it, but then I struggle to trust Him fully with it. My mind almost has a mind of it's own, if that makes any sense. I know Satan wants my mind and my life, and the only way I know to battle against him is on my knees!
I'm still working on my gratitude list. Today, I may not be able to write anything inspiring down, but I am thankful for one thing for sure.....God is our conqueror and more. That reminds me of the Scripture verse - Romans 8:39
"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."
I'm also reminded, in order to keep my mind and heart grateful, that I must "pray continually." And "be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18)
So today I am praying, praising God (through reading the Word). I'm reading Psalms 103, to start. And I'm remembering that God is my conqueror!
This weeks list of blessings and His grace:
335. Having a tasty chicken Caesar salad for lunch! Yum!
336. Technology that allows my son to record his music.
337. My son’s friends – some pretty awesome young people!
338. That God will continue to work in my son’s heart to make wise decisions, concerning his dating relationship.
339. "Grace, which is the hard floor that catches me when my knees give in. It’s the net that holds me, keeping me from falling into the endless abyss."(I read this on another writer's post and felt it fit my situation well) to read it, go here.
340. Psalms 103
341 . God is my conqueror!

It's so important to count our blessings! You are right, it turns our mood around. I have a chalk board in our kitchen and starting today, I'm going to write one thing I'm thankful for each day on it! Number one? My salvation!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joan
I'm still working on negativity. It is my hardest struggle Thank God he never quits working on us. And, thankfulness does help tremendously
ReplyDeleteThis is the very reason for TRUST...our feelings and emotions will so often rob us if we let them! Sweet post Ann! Philippians 4:8 has always been one of my favorite verses and I have just purchased the book One Thousand Gifts...looking forward to reading it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you visited as it has been so nice to meet you Ann, I'm following you too!!!
Hi Ann, I really loved how you shared your heart on negativity. I think we're bombarded by it in the world now and it's easier than staying thankful sometimes. We usually don't have to think all day for a reason to be negative, do we?
ReplyDelete@Joan: how is it coming with writing one thing each day? I hope it's going well and that you can see how helps with attitude, especially on rough days.
ReplyDelete@Shanda: It's an ongoing decision to be deliberate about gratitude.
@Cindy: So true! Hope you are enjoying the book! I love it!
@gr8day2save: Boy, isn't that the truth! It seems that negativity breeds more negativity!!
