O, Spring, Wherefore Art Thou?

Image
"Spring comes as a long awaited friend that rejuvenates your soul with her very presence." (unknown) I remember very little about the pla y Romeo and Jul iet, but one thing I do remem ber, and I think just about anyone can quote, are the famous li nes that Juliet chanted.   O Romeo, Romeo ! wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I'll no longer be a Capulet. Tha t's kind of ho w I'm feeling about the word "Spring" this year. It's like the long awaited return o f a dear friend or lover. It just can't get here soon enough.  Every one has different expectations of the reunion of the long awaited " Spring ", as well. Some rejoice at just celebrating the official date (March 21st ) that rings in Spring. Others relate it to vacation time ( Spring break ). Some anticipate the cha nge in weather - probably shouldn't hold our breath on that....

What's Your Pain Tolerance?

Image
http://www.ivillage.com/common-conditions-cause-chronic-pain/4-b-464964 I went to my doctor the other day for a follow-up for my post knee surgery. For a few weeks my knee had been aching and causing me ongoing pain. It wasn't excruciating, but more just annoying and I found myself taking ibuprofen and icing it on a daily basis. When I told the doctor about my pain and asked what I could do to stop it, his response wasn't what I was hoping for. After reviewing my x-rays and notes from the surgery he said that I have a lot of arthritis in the area I had pain and that nothing more (other than knee replacement) could be done. He said every person's level of pain tolerance is different. He said he's seen much worse cases than mine, where the person had experienced very little to no pain. For some reason, what he said kind of hit me wrong, as I almost felt like he was saying, " Don't be a wimp ! "  Because of my doctor's statement, I sta rted to...

20 Years of Loud; A Week of Quiet

Image
It's so easy to get used to a routine, isn't it? Even though we say we like some variety in  life, we also love the comfort and security of the familiar.    No surprises or setbacks with the familiar. (Well, usually.) For 20 years , it was the three of us. For 20 years, peace and quiet was a commodity, and privacy was non-existent . From day one ~ there was crying and cooing... laughing and singing... c artoons bla ring and  phones ringing ... family scrambling and sometimes, yelling... guitars grinding and drums t humping (band practice at our house was a week ly event) ... car engines revving and many, many, many late nights, waiting up ...   ...but it's been a week of qui et...well, mostly .  My son moved out last Saturday (a four hour drive away ).  On Thursday he came back to town to pick up a friend and st opped in to pick up a few more things he forgot to ta ke with him when he moved out. Of course, he stopped in at mi...

"I Believe"

Source: titusonetwo.blogspot.com via Ann on Pinterest 1 O Lord , our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.   2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings b and crowned him with glory and honor.   6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet,   7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,   8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9 O Lord , our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!  Psalm 8 How can anyone ever deny th...
