Story of Joseph - A Story About God's Promises

Image
http://www.365promises.com/promise-photo-gallery/ I've been atten ding a Bible study at my church for several weeks. We have been studying the ba sics of the Old Testament ~ many storie s of people of that time that have reve aled how God has worked in their lives, and how He still works today. Most recently , we have been stud ying the life of Joseph. Several statements in our study guide remind s me just h ow much God works in and through our l ives each day. This story also brings up the fact once again that how we look at our c ircu mstances in life affects everything else.  The story of Joseph: Genesis 37 ,  39 ,  40-45 Joseph's faith in God and what He communicated allowed him to see beyond his circumstances and serve the Lord. God is t he Promise-Giver and Promise-Keeper . Joseph trusted that God was still with him, despite the apparent hopelessness of his situation.                    So...

When danger Surrounds Us: God Protects Us

Image
Ever get the feeling like you are in great danger (that evil is present) and something awful could happen any minute? Sometimes, it happens so fast that you don't have time to even pray, "Lord protect me." That panicky feeling takes over and you do whatever it takes to protect you and/or your loved ones and get away from the situation as quickly as possible. Then later, when the danger is past, you look back with awe and gratitude, knowing that God was really protecting you from harm. I've experienced a few of those kinds of situations recently and they remind me over and over how God does care for us. I'm not saying that we are always protected from painful situations or the evil decisions of people who don't have Christ in their hearts. Sometimes things do happen, even to the children of God, because of the sin of the world. I'm not sure how God decides when to intervene in these situations and when not to. That's where trusting His wisdom mus...

Overcoming Disappointment and My Brain of Mush!

Image
Feeling disappointment is a part of life. Letting that disappointment control your attitude and behavior doesn't have to become the result. It's been a week since I put my camera memory card into the little slot, closed the li d , and hit the 'on' button. The camera came on, but instead of the normal auto focus, the words "memory card error" shined across the screen. Attempt, after attempt brought the same result. No picture or videos; just errors and blank options. "Great", I thought. " I didn't save my video clip." I called a computer repair shop in town. "Well", said the techie, "those cards quite often have problems. That's why you 're supposed to save your pictures and videos on the computer. There is a slight chance that I may be able to recover your stuff on the card, but it is a very slight chance. And your card will be ruined, once the attempt is made." "Hey, I'm willing to try anyt...

A New Year, A New Word

Source: turnbacktogod.com via Ann on Pinterest Well, here it is....my word for 2013 ! It was pretty easy for me to find a word this year. Maybe because last year, I found myself dealing with a lot of challenges that tested my steadfastness. Sometimes, I didn't do too well in being steadfast. As a new year begins, and the clock winds closer to Christ's return, I know I will be required, more than ever, to be steadfast in my faith walk. The word steadfast traces back to the Old English word stedefæst , a combination of stede , meaning "place," and fæst , meaning "firmly fixed." Picture a steadfast person standing firmly in place, not wavering or budging an inch, and you’ll have a good sense of what this word means. Someone can be steadfast in a belief, an effort, a plan, or even a refusal. Whatever it is, it means that the person will calmly hold firm to the chosen position and follow through with determination. A word meaning to endure pa...
