Grace and Gratitude
Grace:
God’s unmerited favor or kindness, we don’t deserve. There is nothing we have done, nor can ever do to earn this favor. It is a gift freely given from God.
This is what we call the ugly-beautiful… d’un beau affreux. What the impressionist painter, Paul Gauguin, encapsulated as, “Le laid peut-etre beau…” Translation: The ugly can be beautiful…..(Get Closer to the Ugly)
The Link Between Grace and Gratitude
Gratitude flourishes in the sphere of grace.
Since the feeling of gratitude usually rises in our hearts when someone does us an undeserved or uncalled-for favor, the expression of thanks will at any time communicate humility
#1767 - God's
grace, which by all are justified freely through the redemption
that came by Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:24). https://revphil2011.wordpress.com/2011/12/29/
#1773 - Programs/websites online that tell the truth about current events, instead of the lies of media/government officials. "Living Waters", "InfoWars"
#1774 - Peace of mind through the Lord in a world of chaos and evil.
#1775 - For
faith, hope, and love. Because those things are free, irreplaceable, and the
only things that last a lifetime
#1776 - Running
into and old friend/former teacher of my son.
#1777 - First snowfall of the year.
#1778 - The beauty of snow, stuck to the branches of trees and
and morning fog on the lake.
#1775 - Safety on the road, driving on icy roads.

I think reading your blog tonight - and mulling over whether to begin a new 1000 gifts list - has nudged me to simply start counting :). Thank you for sharing yours!
ReplyDeleteWonderful!!! I remember when I first began listing my 1000 gifts and stopped for a while. Writing those gifts down had changed my outlook on life so much. Then when I stopped, I was so empty-feeling and negative. I recently started up again, too. Already I feel and see the benefits of making that choice. May God bless you richly, as you commit to start counting again!!
Delete"Gratitude flourishes in the sphere of grace." So true. Thank you, neighbor. Abundant Blessings & Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Mari-Anna! May you also have a blessed Thanksgiving week and enjoy time with family and loved ones!
DeleteI have been rereading Ann's book, One Thousand Gifts and I am still counting. It has been a few years and when things get rough I know that I need to sit down and give thanks in order to process the pain and work my way through each difficulty. That was a hard video to watch. I can only pray that I have the strength of faith in the midst of trials like that. Thanks for sharing! Happy Thanksgiving! Love, Rachael @ Inking the Heart.
ReplyDeleteI have reread the book once and will probably do it again. Such a great reminder to us all. Yes, the video was emotional to watch, but what a great example of seeing grace in every situation. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThis is fantastic and the lesson for gratitude is something we ought to constantly be growing in. This post is something I really want to share across all media outlets so I'm going to feature this tomorrow for our next round of Grace & Truth. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
