The Joy of the Lord

Another lovely week has flown by. 
Oh, how I absolutely love summer! 
And yet, I know all too soon, that the beautiful colors and smells of autumn will be here. 
 So, I try to soak up every last minute of this season!
And I try to find joy in the little things, as well as the big.
 And give thanks, once again for so many wonderful gifts that God chooses to bring into my life!

1,466 - Finding peace over a decision I made to NOT take a position that was offered to me at my work.
1,467 - Visiting a historical nature site near our home.
1,468 - Watching complete strangers getting married in the public gardens that we were visiting.
1,469 - Thinking about how far my hubby and I have come over the past several months in our relationship...
1,470 - One of the best things that has happened is having a regular prayer time together, that has continued!!
1,471 - Walking through a lush garden! 
1,472 - The beauty in the detail of a flower!
1,473 -  A little "friend" scurrying through the woods, took a minute to stop and say "hello". 
1,474 -  Enjoying my birthday with my hubby, who took the day off to be with me.
1,475 -  So many friends and family, who wished me a happy birthday! Feeling loved!
1,476 - Getting a cute homemade birthday card from my hubby...which is extremely rare and precious to me!
1,477 - A phone call from my step daughter.
 1,478 - Letting the joy of the Lord strengthen me each day! 
  • When I am weary and tired.
  • When I feel sad.
  • When I want to give up.
  • When I wrestle with hurt feelings.
  • When I become angry and resentful.
  • When I know I need to seek God...    
Praying you also find strength through the joy of the Lord!!

My word for 2016: Happiness

Hello and welcome to my first post of 2016! I'm a bit shocked at writing this post, as I I haven't picked a word for the year for myself for a few years. I hadn't planned on choosing a word this year till recently.  But because last year had SO many challenges for me and I gave so much of myself and felt so drained of energy by the end of the year. it just seemed appropriate to decide on a specific word for 2016. Definition from Dictionary.com "The state of being happy." synonyms: pleasure ,  contentment ,  satisfaction , cheerfulness,  merriment ,  gaiety ,  joy , joyfulness, joviality,  jollity ,  glee ,  delight , good spirits, lightheartedness,well-being,  enjoyment ;   exuberance ,  exhilaration ,  elation ,  ecstasy , jubilation ,  rapture , bliss,  blissfulness I've been reading and praying about the word - happiness - in Scripture, in Christian theological writings and blogs. Burn The Ships

The beginning of a New Year often has us looking back and seeing how God has walked with us in the past and contemplating the year ahead .  We tend to want to hold on to the familiar, the easier path, the old ways....but these often become unhealthy, and even dangerous for us to continue down some paths/have relationships with some people in our lives. When we become aware of these different paths/people in our lives that can hinder/harm us, we may need to "rise from the dust and walk away".  "Burning the Ships" can be SO difficult(maybe even excruciating.)  I don't know about you, but FEAR often has kept me from burning the ships and moving ahead. Fear of rejection, fear of what others will think, fear of being alone, fear of not knowing the future. But, God reminds us that He will never leave us, nor forsake us. He is our source of strength.
