I AM...THE BEGINNING AND THE END

I am neither a Greek, nor Hebrew language scholar, but I've seen the symbols many times throughout my life. Sororities and fraternities use them. Products and businesses are named after them. Today, I am reminded that this is how God described Himself in the Bible

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

 Revelation 1:8

The first symbol is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Aleph, and the second is the last letter of the Greek alphabet, Omega.  Not only does this symbolize the One who has come and will come again, it also emphasizes the continuity of God's work in history throughout both the Old and New Testaments.

I've been listening to a lot of Christmas music the past few weeks. My all-time favorite musician/recording artist is Chris Tomlin. He is so talented and such a humble, yet godly person!! I recently got his Christmas album called "Glory in the Highest." The song that the album title comes from is one of my favorite songs. Chris describes what he wrote the song for in a short YouTube interview, below.

Here is the full song......to get the best effect, I pull up the full screen, plug it into my speakers(or use earphones) and blast it loud. This helps to totally focus on God. Can't help but get into the worship of it!! (If you get a chance to buy the cd, it's totally worth it!)

A Mother’s Work is _______ __________!

I’ve heard the saying, “A woman’s work is never done,” many times. It’s true…I rarely get bored. But, as a mom, I am amazed at what I find myself doing…even when my “child” is legally an adult himself. Yesterday morning, I found myself doing something I usually don’t do, at least not for someone else. I was out digging him out of a snow drift. What a start to my day!!

A few evenings ago we got pelted with 8 inches of fresh white snow. It was beautiful coming down (at what the news channel said was one inch per hour).
Our house a few nights ago.

But yesterday, trying to drive out in it was practically impossible. Snow plows were overworked and roads were totally covered. If you didn’t have 4WD, you were not going anywhere. But my son had to be to work, so he ventured out. He didn’t get too far, just a few feet from our driveway. So our morning was spent digging the snow, pouring sand under tires, pushing and spinning wheels. Finally, he got out and was on his way.

I guess I could say a mother's work is never done, too. We could probably fill in the blanks with other words, too, like
very rewarding
extremely tiring
a labor of love
worth $138,095/year - according to Reuters

What other words would you fill the blanks in with?

What a Beautiful Name

Have you ever said to someone, "You have such a beautiful name"? I have. Especially if I know a little bit about a person and if it seems like their personality goes well with their name....like Faith or Grace or Bella(which actually means beautiful in Italian) or for boys, Christian or David or Samuel. There's one Name that has many titles, the Name of Jesus. Now, that's a beautiful Name, not only because of it's meaning ("God rescues" in Hebrew), but because of who He is and what we think of when we hear that Name! Or when we hear His other Names...(left click to enlarge)

During the Christmas season, I’m reminded of the many names that are given to Jesus at His birth….
Isaiah 7:14 declares:
"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign. The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel' This prophecy refers to the birth of Jesus in Matthew 1:22-23. This took place to fulfill what the Lord said through the prophet; 'The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel which means, 'God with us.'
Isaiah prophesied of the Messiah saying this:
"His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace'
{Isaiah 9:6}

Here is a song that I really like that describes the Name of Jesus! Hope you can sit back and enjoy!
